Be Stunt - Doubles For God!

Luke 9: 23-24 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.”

Every Arts With A Mission Camp is first and foremost, a way for participants to meet with God, to learn how to live for Him more effectively. Every day begins with heartfelt worship and a teaching that builds a foundation for what the Lord longs to do for everyone present.
In the first teaching of the week, Marlene Dickson compared Jesus to the ultimate stunt double. “The miracles he performed were his God-stunts. His greatest stunt was his death on the cross for our sins. The cross was Jesus fulfilling his destiny.”

Marlene then called camp participants to that same destiny, to deny themselves, take up their own cross and follow Christ. This means letting go their desires so that they can take hold of God’s destiny for their lives.

They were then challenged to be Christ’s own stunt doubles, to live a life of radical obedience to God. In Luke 9:1 Jesus called his disciples together and gave them power and authority, that same power and authority is available for each of us today.  Again in John 20 Jesus says to his disciples: “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”  We closed in an amazing worship and prayer time where each camper let go of their own desires in order to take hold of God’s destiny and authority for them.

The work Jesus did on the cross is a complete work. His salvation from sin and death is an invitation for each of us to live a full and abundant life- an eternal life! It’s as if Jesus won the gold medal and then turns to you and places it around your neck and says: “you take the victory lap… run for my glory.”  Let us run in such a way that brings him the honor due his name!
